Endometrial Cancer Key Statistics

Both endometrial cancers and uterine sarcomas are included in these estimates. Some endometrial cancer cases and deaths are less than the estimates given, since up to 8% of uterine body cancers are sarcomas.

Over 600,000 women are survivors of this type of cancer. It is more common in white women, but black females are more likely to die from it than white females.

Cancer of the endometrium is the most common cancer of the female reproductive organs in the United States. The American Cancer Society has issued estimates for cancer of the uterus for the year 2015 in the United States:

  • The number of new cases of cancer of the uterus (uterine body or corpus) diagnosed was about 54,870.
  • The number of persons estimated to die from cancers of the uterine body is 10,170.
  • Both endometrial cancers and uterine sarcomas are included in these estimates. Some endometrial cancer cases and deaths are less than the estimates given, since up to 8% of uterine body cancers are sarcomas.

Endometrial Cancer statistics reveal that in women under 45 years of age, endometrial cancer is not common, with most cases (about 3 out of 4) occurring in women over the age of 55 years. During her lifetime, the average chance of a woman being diagnosed with cancer is about 1 in 37.
